ETMC Quitman’s Terry Dickey, RN, FNP-BC receives award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence

QUITMAN, Texas – Terry Dickey, RN, FNP-BC, of the ETMC First Physicians Clinic in Quitman, was honored with the State Award of Nurse Practitioner Excellence for Texas during the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, held in Washington, DC, last week.

The AANP’s State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence, founded in 1991, recognizes a nurse practitioner in a state who demonstrates excellence in practice, research, NP education, or community affairs.

"I was truly honored to receive this award. I love working in the Quitman community," Ms. Dickey said. I would have to thank my mentors and colleagues in the Wood County and Tyler medical communities for their assistance in making the quality of care we provide the highest possible in this area."

Ms. Dickey, who works in association with Dr. Beverly Waddleton and Shelbi Mullins, FNP-C, gives frequent community and school presentations and enjoys having her roots in Quitman. "You develop really long-term relationships with these folks," she said. "You’re not just treating a person; you’re treating your neighbor."

The AANP was founded in 1985 and is the oldest, largest and only full-service national professional organization for nurse practitioners of all specialties.
